Gerald Sheffield II is an artist and educator living and working in Los Angeles, California. His work explores the margins of representation regarding national identity, cultural heritage and western art history. The artist recently completed a Fulbright Grant in Uzbekistan, researching the Islamic architecture of the Silk Road and its influence on the tolerance and diversity of Central Asian Muslim society. Sheffield received a BFA in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts, and an MFA in Painting/Printmaking from Yale University. The artist is an Iraq War Army veteran.
